Recipes with guacamole

Ahh, guacamole. A staple amongst Mexican cuisine dinner tables all over the world. There are literally thousands of classic guacamole recipes, from fresh guacamole dips to spicy guacamole dip, to choose from. But before you decide on what will be your signature spicy guacamole dip recipe, you must first decide what type of avocado lover you are.

Let us get this straight right away; avocados grow on trees, therefore they are a fruit. Not only are avocados absolutely delicious, but unlike other fruits, they are low in sugar and full of vitamins, too. Specifically vitamins C, E, K, folate, and fiber. Now that we have gotten that out of the way, when deciding on the type of avocado that will serve as the centerpiece to your spicy guacamole dip, ask yourself a few questions. Do you prefer the large, green Florida avocado, which holds its shape better and is less slimy? Or do you prefer the Hass avocado, also known as the California avocado, which is slightly creamier and richer than its sun belt counterpart? Keep in mind that even though the Hass avocado is smaller, it is higher in fat, too. If you choose Hass, this means that the guacamole nutrition and guacamole calories of your spicy guacamole dip might be slightly higher. But do not let that deter you; it is the good type of fat.

Once you have decided on the type of avocado that has stolen your heart, then you can peruse the thousands of guacamole recipes or recipes using guacamole. But first, what is guacamole? Guacamole is the delicious combination of crushed avocado (obviously), onions, tomatoes (or salsa), cilantro, lime, and spices such as garlic and chiles. Some people prefer spicy guacamole dip, which incorporates poblanos, jalapenos, or serrano peppers. A spicy guacamole dip is often seasoned to taste and is replete with fiery spices and chiles accordingly. Conversely, there is also a more subdued version, which uses cilantro and lime to counterbalance the spiciness of peppers.

Whichever spicy guacamole dip you decide on, with a little time and practice, you can perfect your very own signature recipe. In no time, your friends will be begging you to bring it to every dinner party. Viva guacamole! Read more: sabra.com
