How To Use And Care For Your Meat Grinder

You now have a meat grinder, or maybe even an industrial meat grinder and you love to play with food so much that you can’t wait to start grinding some meat. Cutting meat sounds so awesome to you, and you are ready to get in there with your brand new industrial meat grinder and get to grinding meat. First, you need to assemble the grinder but it is self-explanatory to you and you will easily be able to do that. Now, you just need a few tips on how to use and care for your industrial meat grinder.

Keep Everything Cold

This is perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind before you even use your commercial meat grinder. Everything from the meat grinder right down to the meat and even the bowl you are making sausage in needs to be cold all the time. If anything is even a little warm, your meat will smear and it will come out with a partially cooked texture to it. Believe me, you don’t want that to happen.

What you should do is keep your meat grinder either in the freezer for one hour before grinding your meat, or keep it stored in there all the time. You also want to keep your meat in the cooler until you are ready to start grinding it. And, if you are making sausage, you will need to put your sausage in a bowl that is also inside another bowl with ice inside it to keep the sausage cool before grinding it. Believe me, doing it this way will make all the difference in how your ground meat comes out.

Trim The Meat Well

You will want to trim your meat before grinding it. If you don’t, you will end up with smeared and smooshed up meat coming out with a chewy like texture to it. No one wants this to happen so trim it well and everything will turn out great!

Watch For Smearing

Watch the meat as it comes out of the grinder. You should be able to tell the difference between the fat and the meat. However, if it comes out as one huge mass of something you can’t identify, you are smearing it and you don’t want this to happen. Does your meat grinder have reverse on it? If so, try it and see it if works. If it doesn’t, take the meat out, take the meat cutter apart, and clean everything before trying it again.

Make Sure The Blade Is Always Sharp

Did you know, eating meat is growing in popularity more and more? It was predicted that soon, meat consumption will increase by 200 pounds per year.

Keeping absolutely everything cold before grinding meat is very important. Keep the whole grinder, parts and all, except the motor inside your freezer before you use it to grind meat. Keep your meat cold until you are ready to grind it.

Healthy food is still popular. 67 percent of the younger generation say they love ordering healthy food at restaurants.
