Taking A Look At Alcohol Consumption In The United States

Alcohol is, of course, quite immensely popular all throughout the United States. After all, the total sale of alcohol beverages over the course of a year are likely to total around $219 billion – and this is only a number that is on the rise. It makes sense when you think about it. For one thing, there is simply an incredibly variety when it comes to the alcoholic beverages that are made available to us.

Liquor is one common type, with more than 97 million people consuming liquor on a yearly basis all throughout the country. And more than 13 million people consumed some type of premixed cocktail just within the last month or so. Of course, some people will instead want to consume something on the lighter side, and will turn away from liquor in favor of wine. And there is no denying, in fact, the immense popularity of wine indeed.

Once again, the data that has been gathered on the subject of wine consumption (and of alcohol consumption in general, for that matter) more than backs up this claim. This data actually shows that there are well over 7,000 wineries all just in the United States. And these wineries do good business, as going to a winery is something that a truly wide array of people will enjoy. After all, wineries have a lot to offer, from beautiful grounds to an impressive wine selection unlike, perhaps, the wines that you have had in the past. Wineries can also offer information about the wines that they sell and provide for tasting, as well as how wine grows and comes into being and how exactly you should enjoy your wine. For many people, this education is hugely interesting and is one of the main reasons to go to a winery in the first place.

And even if you don’t like most wine, there is more likely than not at least one variety that you will enjoy, if only just every once in awhile. After all, there are five prominent types of wine, ranging from Chardonnay to Pinot Grigio to Merlot and Pinot Noir. Cabernet Sauvignon also makes the cut. But still there are even more wines out there to sample, from Riesling to Rose. In all of the wines in the world, most people will find at least one to enjoy.

And wine is the ideal drink for many an occasion and can even be appropriate when hard liquor might not be. From dinner parties to restaurants, a glass or two of wine can be a great way to unwind after a long day. The same can be said, in many ways, for local beer. After all, the consumption of craft and local beer is also very much on the rise, particularly over the course of recent years.

Again, this is a statement that is very much supported by data. After all, independent breweries selling different types of local beer and even cider were able to sell up to $12 billion worth of local beer and other such offerings over the course of just one single year. In addition to this already impressive fact, it has been found that small breweries creating and then selling various types of local beer actually now make up as much as 99% of the beer market within the United States – or at least 99% of all breweries with a foundation in this country. After all, there are now more than 2,000 local microbreweries alone. On top of this, there are more than 1,500 brewpubs and up to nearly 200 local regional breweries. All of these breweries create unique local beer that is likely to be much loved, as, like wine, there are many types of beer and at least one local beer that you will like.

From wine and spirits to local beer, there is no doubting the prominence of alcohol in our country. Nowadays, there are even specialty wine stores! However, drinking responsibly is a must, as is acting responsibly after you have been drinking. Fortunately, most people are well aware of this fact and are therefore fully able to enjoy local beer and the like.
